The Chrome companion
A small addition
to your ordinary day.
ScrollCat uses scrolling in desktop Chrome to help your cat travel. The companion app is where you return to the story.
When the extension is available
- Choose your cat. Sign in to the ScrollCat web app and create one companion.
- Install from the Chrome Web Store. Use the official link on this page. Chrome will explain the requested permissions.
- Connect the same account. Open ScrollCat from Chrome’s extensions menu and select Connect account. Approve the connection in the ScrollCat account window.
- Browse normally. Return to the app when you feel like seeing where your cat went. You don’t need to keep the app open.
What Chrome’s permissions mean
The extension runs on ordinary HTTP and HTTPS pages to measure scroll distance against the viewport. It doesn’t collect URLs, page content, typed text or clicks. Browser-protected pages, the Chrome Web Store and Chrome’s own settings cannot supply activity.
Local storage saves the account connection and pending aggregates. Alarms schedule sync; identity opens the secure pairing window. The extension contacts the ScrollCat API to send aggregates and refresh your cat’s state.
Already testing ScrollCat?
Use the development build supplied by the project owner. After an update, reload the unpacked extension and refresh existing browser pages. Development and production connect to different environments; check the extension name before pairing.
Never paste a token into a webpage or send it to support. See pairing and troubleshooting instructions.
